Introduction

The winner of a presidential election is the candidate who has run the best race. You are campaigning not just for votes, but for favorable media coverage, endorsements from celebrities and union leaders, and contributions as well. Events such as speeches, polls, and TV and radio commercials will occur along the way. You will learn why candidates focus on winning certain states and the all-important role money plays in a campaign.

The object of the game is to become the next US President by winning electoral votes through scheduling time and spending money wisely.

You will move around the country in his campaign bus for a period of time (two months for a long game; one month for a short game) visiting various states gaining or losing electoral votes. You will begin by scheduling a trip to a state of your choice and deciding how you will spend your campaign money in that state. Next, you buy advertising. It's up to you what kind of advertising to buy and what state to advertise in.

Next, you will travel to the state you selected to campaign in. At the end of each visit, the campaign advisor will brief you via e-mail giving you the local news reaction to your visit and the latest poll results for that state.

Taking a stand - In each state, you must decide where you stand on a particular issue. At the end of a visit, what stand you take will affect your popularity with the voters in that state.

Tallying the votes - In headquarters at the end of the day, you will check the map to see if you have won or lost any electoral votes in the last state you visited.

Winning - The winning player is the player who has amassed the most electoral votes in the allotted game time. Good luck!
