Educational Benefits The Election Game is an interactive game designed to encourage each child to think independently, to make choices and to solve problems. Each child is different. We cannot possibly know how much factual information each child already has or how much more information each student will need to understand the electoral process. Some children have only a vague understanding of geography, endorsements, campaign finance, or what the current public issues are today. Others are older or more sophisticated. They may know what the public issues are, but they haven't thought through where they stand on a given issue. Some children may need work learning how to calculate distances between campaign stops. Even the savviest of teens need help learning how to plan. Consequently, we have focused on helping students sift through information at their individual level, to think critically, to plan carefully, to make more effective decisions, and to become creative problem-solvers. You're probably saying to yourself right now that these are important life skills. Yes, they are! Educational benefits of The Election Game to Social Studies:
General learning opportunities of The Election Game:
The Election Game is designed to increase in difficulty as you play. The computer program will keep track of each previous campaign a student has run, and it will adjust the level of difficulty before each future campaign the student begins.
